Stegosaurus is a Stegosaurid from the Late Jurassic Era Stegosaurus, pronounced STEG-o-SAWR-us, was named by Othniel Marsh in 1877. The name means “roof lizard” or “plated lizard” after the distinctive plates sticking out of it’s back.
